About therapy

The therapeutic process

We start with an intake of 60 minutes in which we establish the foundation of your reasons for coming in. In subsequent sessions we build on this by working together to further investigate your issues, to have a close look at your personal biography and background. We shall also have a close look at how actual patterns and how your present painful situation are linked with your past. As our sessions progress you will get increasingly acquinted with the person you are deep down; at the very centre of yourself. This understanding leads to consistantly better decisions and a more satisfying life.

Regarding the duration of the entire process, it is very difficult to give an indication of the number of sessions you will need in order to feel well again. As you will surely understand, therapy is a very personal matter and its progress is strongly influenced by factors such as the initial depth of your problem and your commitment to therapy. It generally doesn't take long for clients to notice the effects of our sessions, to start to feel better, though.

Jungian therapy forms the basis

My approach to therapy is centered around the works of Carl Jung and, to a certain extent, Sigmund Freud. Both psychologists share the view that consciousness and unconsciousness are united in one overall system of which both parts are constantly in close contact. In short, Jungian therapy is an in-depth, analytical form of talk therapy designed to bring together the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind to help a person feel balanced and whole. In addition to this Jungian premise I regularly work with breathing excercises and methods for relaxation whenever required.

In addition to this I also employ EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to aid clients, especially when it comes to trauma relief. This is a very effective method for dealing with such types of problems.
